How to make more space:
Sometimes, we could just use a little more space. How to make more space when we are constantly being challenged by work, schedules, and big brothers, is the $64,000 question.
It’s easy to outgrow our apartments and houses. It’s human nature. You can’t argue with human nature. Best to just go with, and make some more space. A simple of inventory of your items is a good start. Rank them 1,2,3. Need it daily, need it seasonally, need it annually. Number 3’s are the most suited for off site storage. These are things such as holiday decorations, snow tires, financial records. Number 2’s can easily be stored as well. These are items we tend to need maybe 3-4 times a year. Tools, camping gear, kids toys, additional furniture.
Storage units are typically priced well below the local rental housing market prices. Because you are storing the items onsite, you are paying premium storage costs for the space. It might be a space that could be making you income, if it’s a spare bedroom you could rent out. Or maybe free up an office space. Or, maybe it would just make you feel better. It’s hard for us to simply decide that we don’t need something and throw it away. And it doesn’t need to be that way. We shouldn’t just rush out and buy cheap things on demand, because we know they are disposable. Far better to own, cherish and store high quality items that bring us joy when we need them.
